Additional skins will be added in the future. Basically, anything that flies like a Hornet will be supported. This aircraft is currently under development and as such, some art and features may be subject to change. Warning: this article contains images of the development work. Users may not be able to see all details and images clearly on their screens. This can happen with monitors set to a low resolution or if the user is running on a low capacity computerThe F/A-18C Hornet is twin-engine, supersonic multirole fighter. It was designed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) and Northrop in the 1970s, and is the only fighter designed by McDonnell Douglas to achieve operational status - the other being the F-15 Eagle. The Hornet is also the only one of the four American tri-seat fighters (F-16, F/A-18, F-15, and the F-4 Phantom) to remain in active service. On 11 June 1972, McDonnell Douglas's entry into the Vietnam War was cancelled. The company decided it needed to focus on defending its markets at home, so it stopped work on the F-15 and turned again to Northrop for further design work on an updated version of its XFV program. The prototype YF-17 first flew on 9 June 1974, and production F/A-18 Hornets began to enter service with the U.S. Navy in March 1978. The Hornet has been exported to Australia as the Su-27IB (formerly as the AFM as well as under lease by Israel as the Nesher) and Philippines as the A-50. The Su27IBs for Australia were built in Russia. Among its many capabilities, the F/A-18 is a multirole tactical aircraft that can operate from a carrier deck or a land base, and can be configured for air superiority, attack, fighter escort missions, or reconnaissance missions. It is a very manoeuvrable aircraft and can exceed the speed of sound in level flight, and its cruise speed is Mach 0.74 (about 560 mph, 910 km/h). The A-18 has four internal 20mm gun mounts and can carry a wide range of ordnance on nine external stations on its wings and five external hardpoints on the fuselage pylons. It was designed to use Martin-Baker Mk.7 ejection seat. cfa1e77820
